Upcoming Workshops

Hello Beautiful,

I know it's been a while since you've heard from here. I'm trying to fix that!!! Plan to do some video tutorials for the season as well as some product tips and reviews.

Hope you guys are taking good care yourselves. Drinking lots of water, getting adequate rest and at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. I know the exercise part is difficult but find activities that are fun. All these things help with a beautiful appearance and longevity of life.

That said....let me introduce you to the workshops I have coming up. These workshops are small so that each individual will have my undivided attention. Email me for more info if interested.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay beautiful.

Cheapo find that's not too bad

Found a compact powder on Sale at Pennywise recently. It’s Theon’s Pressed Powder #5 Light-Dark. You get two for $20. I was really looking for my staple Black Opal Invisible Oil blocking compact. They were out of stock. I needed a temporary substitute because I didn’t want go to another store. Theon’s was a good deal so I decided to buy it to test it out.

The packaging does not give much information so I assumed it was a translucent powder because it said light-dark. Tried looking it up online but found no useful information on the brand name. Apparently it’s manufactured in a cosmetic factory in Miami. Theon’s name has been around as a brand in Trinidad for at least over 15 years. I was first introduced to their eye liners and nail polishes when I was a teenager. (Sure you’re calculating my age) Anyway, it’s not a yellow-based powder, pink-based but not highly pigmented. The smell reminds of the powders I used in my teens as well from Yardley and Constance Caroll. Back then most of the powders were pink-based.

I used this powder over my Avon perfecting primer and it's not bad. Indeed translucent. Almost colourless. If you’re medium toned and just want something to reduce shine you can use this. I am even using this powder to set my Maybelline Fit Me "Coconut" Liquid Foundation and it looks alright. Gave the second compact to my mom who is darker in complexion than me. She uses over Black Opal "Suede Mocha" Cream Foundation and it works. This powder is fine and doesn't get too cakey. If you’re a teenager who has a tight budget I think this is a good option. Get it while stocks last.

Keep in mind this is not one of my highly recommended products. However, its a good substitute if you can’t get your hands on a better option at the moment. Compacts are designed mainly for touch-ups on the go. My pick is Black Opal Invisible Oil blocking powder. It’s almost colourless and goes well with most skintones. Most importantly it contains the oil-absorbing minerals Kaolin and Silica. You can get it in loose form as well to set foundation. However, I prefer Ben Nye loose translucent powders. So natural and warm up your skin beautifully.

I am having some problems uploading photos for this product. I will get them up soon. Please come back.

Have a nice day guys!!!

A Cosmetic Sponge you will LOVE LOVE LOVE

Today my review is on the Avon Precision Grip Teardrop Blender. Personally, I find that name too long so I call it the Avon Blender for short. Now this sponge is Avon’s affordable response to the famous but pricy Beauty Blender. When I first heard about the Beauty Blender I was quite impressed. Even Makeup Artist colleagues encouraged me to try it. When I saw the price I said, “That will stay right there!” It’s what I usually say when something seems too expensive. The Beauty Blender sells for around USD 25. I decided to continue using what has been working for me all along. The Victoria Vogue sponge wedges. As a MUA I know how to work it in such a way to give me a flawless application.

However, about a month and a half ago I was going through an Avon catalogue and saw the Avon Blender on sale for the amazing price of USD 4.99 (TTD45 through my Avon Representative). I realized it resembled the Beauty Blender but the design seemed more ergonomic. At that giveaway price I decided right away to give it a try.

Avon orders take forever to arrive through my rep. I finally got my sponge on Monday gone. Been using it to apply my makeup for the past two days. Let me tell you, I absolutely love it. I’ve already put in an order for four more.

This sponge is soft and smooth and seamlessly applies foundation. It’s so fast and easy. Perfect for those who have problems using the regular sponge wedges. I have done workshops teaching makeup application so I know how difficult it is for a lot of women to apply foundation.

Avon Precision Grip Teardrop Blender

There are two methods I use to foundation with this sponge. For both methods you need to wet sponge and squeeze out excess water or just spray it with water.
  1. Apply product to face with foundation brush then smooth out by bouncing the damp sponge all over. The pointy side can be used for hard to reach corners like the inner corners of eyes.
  2. Apply product directly to damp sponge. Smooth over face one area at a time and bounce sponge to blend and remove streaks. Remember you have the pointy side for small areas.

The Avon Blender gets my stamp of approval. The only thing I can’t comment on yet is its durability. I hope it lasts at least three to four months. You should wash every day to avoid getting bacteria into it. Could go every two days if you like and extend the life a bit.

Hope you give it a try. Have a good one.
